La chambre de Kolmanskop
A personal favorite
The ghost town of Kolmanskop is an incomparable playground for photographers.
Imagine an old mining town abandoned at the beginning of the 1900s and in which the Namib desert has gradually regained its rights by invading the dwellings. The animals sleep there at night, the dunes reform there and there is a really special atmosphere.
Among the different shots I was able to take there, “La chambre de Kolmanskop” is one of my favorites. The light and atmosphere of this photo have always given me a special feeling. The murals give a soothing and warm rendering while the dune lets us imagine the time it took for the desert to return to the place.
Here is a large format print (80×120), framed in an American beech box and visible at the gallery for a few more days before its new owner comes to pick it up.
